On Saturday 3rd May, six of our Scouts and two leaders set off on a 26 mile walk over two days from Beadnell to Holy Island in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Along the way they visited St Aidan’s Shrine in Bamburgh and St Cuthbert’s Cave near Holburn. On the Sunday afternoon, the Scouts were joined by the Wolf Cubs to complete the last few miles over the Pilgrim’s path towards Holy Island. Meanwhile, the Beavers were exploring Holy Island.
After everyone made it to the Island and the walkers were cleaned up, we all met up at St Aidan’s Church for Holy Mass celebrated by our spiritual advisor, Fr Luke, who had driven up to the island to celebrate his first Mass there for us. Overall, the group managed to raise a substantial amount of money to fund future activities including a Duke of Edinburgh award licence.
